ABOUT AXIOM FENCING, BALUSTRADES & GATES

1. What is your role at Axiom, and what are your key responsibilities?
I’m the Managing Director and also lead Business Development at Axiom. My role involves setting the strategic direction of the business, nurturing relationships with key clients and partners, and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth. I’m hands-on with both the day-to-day operations and long-term planning, ensuring our team is empowered to deliver high-quality outcomes on every project.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
The team culture — without a doubt. We’ve built a group of driven, supportive individuals who genuinely care about their work and each other. Being part of a business that’s not only growing commercially but also developing its people is incredibly rewarding. It’s about something bigger than any one person.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
I’m married with three boys, so most of my spare time is spent with family. We love being outdoors — swimming at the beach, playing golf, or just enjoying time together in the fresh air. Life is busy, but making memories as a family is what matters most.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
I play the guitar and love to sing — though these days, my audience is mostly the kids (willing or not!). It’s a great way to unwind and share a few laughs.

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d swap with one of our fabricators or installers. It’d be great to get back on the tools, reconnect with the hands-on side of the business, and experience the satisfaction of seeing a job take shape in the real world.

1. What is your role at Axiom, and what are your key responsibilities?
I’m the Branch Manager, responsible for overseeing all staff and operations. I focus on clear communication, accountability, and delivering results. That often means coordinating between teams, project managers, and clients. I also handle quantity surveying and procurement to ensure our projects meet the required standards.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
Working with capable, passionate people who know how to work hard but still have a laugh. I also enjoy simplifying the complexities of the fencing process and helping improve how we do things.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
I like spending time with my family exploring New Zealand. I also enjoy working out, playing video games, and reading comics and novels.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
I’ve skydived, bungee jumped, fought MMA in the ring, and lost a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament to someone who went on to become a currently active UFC fighter. I’ve also driven a 13-second quarter mile at Meremere Dragway.

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
Anyone on the site or fabrication team. The work they produce looks incredible, and it’d be great to get out of the office for a day —just for a day though, those guys work hard!

1. What is your role at Axiom, and what are your key responsibilities?
Junior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator, assisting in cost estimation, project budgeting, quoting/pricing and financial management of construction projects, while ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
I enjoy helping people by providing useful information, solving problems when they arise, engage and inquire in meaningful conversations, and working with such a friendly and collaborative team/family.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
Most weekends you will either catch me on the golf course or tinkering with my car.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
My heart is on the opposite side

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
I would swap roles with Gary (Fabricator), as I would like to borrow all his tools and welder for my car/personal projects 😉

Project Manager

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
Doing a large variety of work to a high standard and seeing the satisfied customers at the end.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
Spending time with my family and dogs, playing golf and binging a good series on Netflix. I also enjoy the occasional surf or skate.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
I use to be fairly handy on a set of turntables

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
Gary as I enjoy fabrication and welding.

Site Manager. Working with our customers and making sure jobs are completed to a high standard

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
Working with great people and being outdoors

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
With my wife and 3 children and on our boat fishing and diving whenever I can

I have worked in Antarctica

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
Matt because he is the boss, and hopefully I will be a boss one day.

• Interpret technical drawings
• Cut, shape and weld raw materials to make the finished product
• Operate and maintain machinery

• Organise the flow of workshop operations.

• Monitor and manage material levels.
• Loading and unloading of truck
• Process improvements to increase efficiency in the workshop, kaizan and 5S processes.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
I enjoy the chilled and family atmosphere, They’re very thoughtful of their staff and families

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
I’m usually in my workshop working on my vintage motorcycles or socialising with family and friends.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) is from my hometown

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d swap with Jase and Stephen because nothing seems to phase him and he have awesome hair

1. What is your role at Axiom, and what are your key responsibilities?
Fencing Installer. My main key responsibility is to make sure that our job will run smoothly by preparing all the tools and things we need for fencing.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
-I like working with the guys I think all of them are cool and smart.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
-I spend most of my weekends with my family sometimes I play basketball and race Tamiya Mini 4wd.

4. What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise your colleagues?
-I’m very resourceful.

5. If you could swap roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
-I would like to take Gaz’s place. Because I would love to learn how to fabricate.

My role is a fence installer. My main responsibilities are working alongside our project manager & site managers to install fences.

2. What do you enjoy most about working at Axiom?
I enjoy working with the team. They are all funny and good people.

3. How do you usually spend your weekends or free time?
4wd/trucking and hanging out with my mates.
